1958 Bandai Lincoln Continental Mark III in Original Box
Superb tin litho friction drive Lincoln Continental Mark III 2-door hardtop automobile complete with its original box. Manufactured by Bandai, Japan. Vehicle grades excellent+ to near mint. Box grades VG+ to excellent. In addition an original 14" x 9", 1959 12 page Lincoln Continental Mark IV advertising brochure in unused condition with a single vertical crease. Rear wheel powered friction drive vehicle has an embossed red lithoed tinplate body, solid black roof, and black chassis. Interior is two-tone blue striped dual bench seats with detailed interior and white plastic steering wheel. Front and rear windshields are original blue tinted celluloid. Tires are solid black rubber. Detailing includes chrome plated front and rear windshield frames with smoker windows, checkerboard grille with "Continental" name in raised metal, wrap around front (bullet style) and rear bumpers (with painted tail lights and logo), dual vertically stacked and angled head lamps, door handles, and lithoed wire wheel covers. A stamped gold finish metal "Continental III" script name logo is tabbed to the side of each front quarter panel. The underside chassis still has its original Bandai Model Auto Series sticker fixed to it. The box features a nearly full panel illustration of the actual toy in full color. The car name, catalog number, company name, etc., was printed on top and along the sides. More importantly the box bottom still has its original red diamond sticker on one end which correctly corresponds to the color of the car (see 2nd box photo). The original Lincoln brochure contained all illustrations and no photos. Printed in black and gold on heavy white textured paper it highlights the features of the car which superseded the Mark III, the Mark IV. Visually the major difference between the two years was alteration of the front bumper; the "bullets" were eliminated. Size: 11½". Sold: Dec. 2012
